Global Education Intern Emily Evans

This past August, I started interning at the Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council for my senior project at Scott High School. The goal of my project was to learn more about the field of work I plan to go into. So I decided to explore the field of international relations.

Working with the Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council has made it clear to me that I do want to continue working in international relations.

During my time I’ve had many valuable experiences and learned so much about the hopes for my future.

The best experience I’ve had interning was definitely learning more about international education. I helped in planning this year’s International Education Summit, an event for high-schoolers. We also got to go to a couple schools, play some games and do some crafts with the students. But while we were doing this, it taught the kids about world geography and international culture.

I’d never even taken much time to think about global education until this experience, but now I realize how important it really is and I would love to explore that career field in the future.

Next year, I am attending Georgetown College and majoring in Political Science, focusing on international relations. I will also be spending my junior year studying at Oxford University in the U.K.

I plan on studying abroad as much as I possibly can to expand my horizons and learn more about the world and the political dynamic between nations.

Although I am not sure exactly where I’ll end up later in my life, I do know that I want to genuinely make an impact on as many people as I can, For me, the most important thing is making people happy, and that is exactly what I plan to do. Where I do that doesn’t matter to me, as long as I’m doing what I love while also helping others.

My experience interning with the Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council has been incredibly valuable, helping me discover more about myself and what I want to do in the future.

I would heavily encourage everyone to learn more about international education and culture in some way or another, especially by interning. It’s truly the best way to get experience and learn more about international education, and the world in general.
