Connecting International Communities through Entrepreneurship: “New” Professional Fellowship at Flywheel

Thank you to everyone who came out this month to learn more about Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council, Flywheel Social Enterprise Hub and their fellow ‘New’ with Oxfam in Thailand! Flywheel hosted New as a professional fellow for the month of May through the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). New supports Fisherfolk Community Enterprise, which aims to facilitate fairness of pay to small-scale fishermen, improve consumer safety in the Thai fish market, and promote environmentally-friendly fishing practices. The organization is piloting market-based solutions to poverty and inequality, and New is visiting Cincinnati to gain insights on how to create a viable and sustainable business model for social enterprise.

The council is a proud partner of Flywheel in hosting ‘New’ in the region for cultural activities such as “just dinners” with local families and overnight stays. Thank you to families who hosted our visitors for dinner or overnight in their homes!!
