Mission and
Vision
The
Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council (GCWAC) is a 501( c)(3)
non-profit, non-partisan organization serving the Tri-County area on a global
scale. Members of the organization strive to be a leader in preparing the
region and its citizens, individually and collectively, to thrive in the 21st
century global environment by promoting international understanding, education,
enjoyment and cooperation. Ultimately, GCWAC seeks to build a culturally aware
and respectful citizenry engaged around the world.
Background
- Operating for the Cincinnati region since 1923,
- Affiliates nationally with the World Affairs Council
of America (WACA),
- Welcomes international visitors affiliated with
Global Ties US since 1961,
- Receives
support through its global membership society consisting of individuals,
families, and corporations, as well as foundations, and a grant through the
US Department of State.
Accomplishments
- Re-launched an interactive online resource for
residents in the Tri-State Area at www.globalcincinnati.org in July 2014,
- Declared “Best of the City: Something for Everyone” 2012
by the Cincinnati
Magazine,
- Grew educational impact from 2, 200 students in 2013
to just under 3,000 in 2014, and
- Prepared professional programs and cultural
activities for visitors from over 160 countries in 2013.
