Trafficking in Persons HEROES visit Cincinnati
The GCWAC programs for over 200 visitors to come to the region each year through the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The council hosted the Trafficking in Persons HEROES group for the third year in a row after they were honored by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Here is a photo of the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry with the 2014 TIP Report Heroes, 10 men and women whose tireless efforts have made a lasting impact on the global fight against modern slavery, at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. That evening, he also unveiled the 2014 Trafficking in Persons Report, which assesses government efforts around the world to combat modern slavery. The visitors who were from Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Korea, Nepal, Romania, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, India, Lebanon, and Vietnam were internationally recognized for their efforts to end human trafficking. In Cincinnati, the visitors were honored along with our local professional, Erin Meyer, who does amazing work with human trafficking through the organization, End Slavery Cincinnati.
