Meet Our Summer Interns
Our Summer Interns have begun their journey at the World Affairs Council and we couldn’t wait to feature them! Our interns are hard-working, detail-oriented, eager to make an impact, bursting with ideas, curious and best of all – they are determined to make a positive change in the world.
Jill Krieger, Global Exchange Intern
“I thought the World Affairs Council internship sounded professionally fulfilling and I found their message to be very inspiring. I believe that cultural awareness is a crucial part of achieving success in the realm of international business. Upon deciding to join the World Affairs Council I was hopeful in increasing my cultural awareness. I hope to walk away with better communication skills, planning skills, and problem-solving skills.”
Jill is currently a sophomore at the University of Cincinnati majoring in International Business and Operations Management along with a minor in Spanish.
She is passionate about learning different Hispanic cultures. Jill has taken 6 years of Spanish classes and has intermediate proficiency. She hopes to be fluent one day and plans to study abroad in either Chile, Mexico or Costa Rica sometime in the future.
Jill is inspired by the work of non-profits and will be the Director of Philanthropic Relations for Lindner Women in Business this Fall.
She has worked with American Red Cross in putting together a Sound the Alarm event that installed 75 alarms in 45 households in the Cincinnati area. Jill believes in the power of global diversity and inclusion in all environments and is excited to help the World Affairs Council promote this.
Samuel McIntyre, Global Exchange Intern
“I decided to intern with the World Affairs Council in order to gain professional experience as well as to see how it uses local experiences to create international results.”
Samuel is currently a junior at Centre College majoring in International Studies.
He is passionate about France and the broader Francophone world. Samuel has studied French for three years at the college level. In the spring of his sophomore year, Samuel studied abroad for three months in Strasbourg, right on the Franco-German border. From there, he had the opportunity to travel to wondrous cities including Paris, Venice, Rome, Munich, Heidelberg, Lyon, Avignon, and Toulouse.
Next spring, he will be interning through Centre College’s “Study Away” program in Washington, D.C. He is excited about the opportunity to promote international understanding at the World Affairs Council.
Julia Hall, Communications and Programs Intern
“I joined the World Affairs Council because I wanted to expand my knowledge about what Cincinnati has to offer global visitors in order to welcome them and introduce them to the city. I also wanted to enhance my skills as a content creator and event marketer to apply to my future career.”
Julia is currently a senior at Thomas More University where she is working on a major in Communications and a minor in Political Science. She is passionate about humanitarian efforts around the world and hopes to travel after graduating from Thomas More University.
She has spent one semester working with Children, Inc. coordinating events and writing a published article for their blog. She is currently working as a paralegal intern at DBL Law in order to gain experience within the legal field.
She is excited to expand her knowledge about foreign affairs and will apply this internship to her future career in the hope that she will become an immigration paralegal.
