Shaping the Future: Highlights from Our AI in the Workforce Panel

On Thursday, May 21, the World Affairs Council’s Young Professionals Advisory Group hosted an engaging panel discussion focused on the evolving role of AI in the workforce. Moderated by YP Board Liaison Morgan Miller, the conversation cut through the hype to explore AI’s capabilities, common misconceptions, and the growing weight of user responsibility.

While the potential of AI is vast, the panelists emphasized that human oversight remains irreplaceable. A standout moment of the evening came from Lauri Hetzer (TQL) and Jay Scherger (DEXA), who addressed the critical issue of accountability:that regardless of what an AI tool outputs, the final product is ultimately the employee’s responsibility. AI should be viewed as a powerful assistant to enhance your work, not a total replacement for human judgment.

Closing out the night, Mrudula Jillella (Macy’s) emphasized that young professionals must remain relentlessly curious about our changing world, noting that this exact curiosity is the ultimate key to career advancement.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to attend the event. Thank you to First Financial Bank for allowing us to use your space.
