Empowering Educators: A Look Back at Our Winter Professional Development Virtual Sessions

This winter, the World Affairs Council was proud to host two virtual professional development workshops designed to equip and refresh our community’s educators.
In January, we hosted Supporting Every Voice: AI-Enhanced Classrooms for Multilingual Learners in partnership with the Hamilton County Educational Service Center. Teachers explored practical, responsible ways to use AI tools for text simplification, bilingual resource creation, and family communication—helping to bridge language gaps and ensure every student feels seen and supported.
In February, we tackled mid-winter burnout with The Art and Science of Wellbeing: Rest and Renewal Workshop, presented in partnership with The Well. Educators moved beyond generic self-care advice to dive into the biological necessity of rest, walking away with science-backed strategies to recharge during high-demand school months. To express our gratitude, participants received a curated care package featuring mindfulness tools, books, and classroom resources.
Thank you to all the dedicated teachers who joined us to learn, restore, and grow together. We are so grateful for the work you do in your classrooms every day, and we look forward to hosting even more educator professional development opportunities once school is back in session this fall!
Special thank you to our Vice President, Melissa McDonald, for championing our global education programs by coordinating these important sessions for educators.
