Announcing Our Next Global Guide Fellow: Rojina Rai
We are delighted to introduce you to our next Global Guide Fellow, Rojina Rai. Rojina will share her inspiring memoir titled, I Choose to be Courageous, with the elementary students at Covington Independent Schools this summer. She is excited to talk about her story with students and the community. Rojina was born in a refugee camp in Nepal due to her family having to flee persecution in Bhutan. She lives in Cincinnati with her mom and grandparents.
Rojina is a senior at Aiken New Tech High School and is actively involved with the Future Farmers of America as well as the agriculture program. She also participates in cross country, plays on the high school soccer team, and enjoys playing chess. Rojina’s favorite subject is American Government because she enjoys learning about historical movements. She describes herself as a curious person. When she is not in school, she likes to watch scary horror movies and spend time on her own. Rojina plans to attend college to study and play soccer.
As a part of World Refugee Day, Rojina was selected to be featured in the Storyteller Celebration with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), also known as the UN Refugee Agency. The UNHRC is the world’s leading organization aiding and protecting people forced to flee their homes due to violence, conflict and persecution. Contributions from you help to make our global summer camp program free and accessible to all students attending. Thank you!!
