International Education Summit

Students not only listen to a panel discussion on the specially selected “hot” global topic, but also speak directly with local professionals in “speed networking” sessions where they learn about global careers in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

The International Education Summit (IES) is a program designed to raise student awareness about global careers in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Professionals represent diverse expertise from governmental, community, business, and nonprofit organizations. Representatives of local universities are in attendance as well to inform students of study abroad opportunities.

Each year, a different global topic is chosen and experts in that field discuss their role in approaching the issue.

Global Chatter In The Schools

By examining issues significant to the U.S.’ role in the global community, teachers and students can implement global dialogues directly in their classroom and become active participants in the world community. In-depth analysis of today’s top foreign policy topics serves as a diverse and applicable current events curriculum for high school students.

These materials support global education by:

  • Enhancing classroom lessons
  • Providing the basis for student or teacher-led clubs or discussion groups
  • Preparing students for Academic WorldQuest
  • Augmenting current event discussions

Global Classrooms

Through this face to face interaction with international university scholars, employees, and visitors, students benefit from a genuine connection to cultural diversity. Today’s students develop skills, awareness, and understanding to become global citizens in their communities, both locally and worldwide.

Global Classrooms connect Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky youth through interactive workshops to engage them in learning about world cultures and global challenges.

Our thematic units may include: ‘Global Gaggles, Games, Global Lives, Regions in Focus, Future of Work, Environment and Resource Security.

Teacher Workshop

Workshops provide professional development to equip teachers with the expertise in applying global perspectives to all subjects. Offerings include easy tools and resources on how to adapt any lesson into a global lesson plan. World Affairs Council continues to seek new and innovative ways to incorporate global education into classrooms through its community, academic, and business partnerships.

Request A Global Speaker

Local professionals with a global savvy or country-specific interest are available upon request to share research, culture, and expertise such as global economy, finance, international commercial arbitration, trade, climate change, and more.

The World Affairs Council programs have been a platform for our students to be able to connect what they are learning in school to the world around them. Every event that we attend makes a sincere impact on our students and allows them to view the world in a different lens. Through the WAC programs, such as the Academic World Quest Team and International Summit on Education, our school has continued to challenge the way that our kids learn and how we can connect our content to the world around us.”
