LUNAFEST short films

September 19, 2021 @ 4:00 pm

☀  LUNAFEST … Sun Sep 19, and Sun Sep 26, 4 pm both days.
Q&A led by WIF filmmakers. Also available in the CWC Virtual Cinema

This year’s edition of the Lunafest Short Films is a benefit for Women in Film Cincinnati and four accomplished WIF professionals will lead post-film discussions: Sara Drabik, Abi Esmena, Jaime Myers Schlenck and Tracy Songer. As always, Lunafest 2021 is a diverse collection of engaging, thought-provoking films, for example:
• As the Arctic ice cap melts away, a team of women explorers and women filmmakers trek to the North Pole on foot – conceivably the last expedition of its sort as global warming destroys the ice fields.
• A superstar athlete and woman of color, AJ Andrews, struggles to survive on $15K a year in an industry more willing to pay female athletes to model than to play their sport.
• Speaking up for women in STEM everywhere, a group of women scientists at Dartmouth make the brave and life-changing decision to call out sexual abuse on campus.
• The remaining four films are equally compelling: a 93-year-old artist still pushing boundaries and making her mark; a young native American embracing fly-fishing and conservation; a mixed-media artist combating the sexual objectification of women, a 12-year-old immigrant girl searching for safety.
