WACA’s Embassy Row Live! Dr. Hend Al-Muftah – Qatar: Women’s Status and Expected Democracy

Dr. Hend Al-Muftah is one of the first female Qataris to be appointed by the Emir as a member of Qatar’s Shura Council. Dr. Al-Muftah will join them in examining women’s status in Qatar, the upcoming Shura Council election, and expected democracy.
About Dr. Hend Al-Muftah:
Dr. Hend Al-Muftah is one of the first female Qataris to be appointed by the Emir of Qatar as a member of Qatar’s Shura Council. She has 20+ years of experience in leadership positions, including her last position as VPAF at Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. Dr. Al-Muftah has been actively involved in many local, regional, and international debates and events regarding political participation of Qatari women and empowerment, women and migrant labor human rights, and the coming Qatari elections in October 2021.
She also served as the VP for the International Women’s Empowerment & Capacity Building Organization (NGO based in UK). Dr. Al-Muftah is the first Qatari HR female professor in Qatar and has taught hundreds of students since graduating from the UK in 2004. She was classified as the most influential social media person in 2016 in Qatar.
Dr. Al-Muftah holds a Ph.D. in Human Capital Formation-Human Resources Management from Exeter University in the UK. She obtained her Master’s in Management Science from London University, SOAS, UK, and her Bachelor’s in Public Administration from Qatar University.
