SUMMARY:Beyond Barbed Wire - A Family's Living Legacy of the Japanese Internment Camps of WWII
DESCRIPTION:Denny Kato shares his family’s living legacy of the Japanese internment camps in WWII.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nAs a schoolboy\, nobody believed Dennis Kato when he told them that his father’s parents and their families had been forced into incarceration camps simply because they were of Japanese descent. He is speaking up again now in hopes that you believe this happened in America. \nAbout the speaker: \nDenny Kato is a graduate of Walnut Hills High School and the University of Cincinnati. \n\n\nPublic Health Requirements: \nThis will be a hybrid program\, with limited tickets available for on-site seating. It will also be livestreamed online to those who have reserved tickets. Online participants will be able to hear and participate in live Q&A after the lecture. \n\n\nLecture Series Sponsor: \nHuseman Group’s Cincinnati headquarters have been based in Walnut Hills for more than 50 years\, and the Group takes pride in the dynamic history of this diverse and vibrant neighborhood. The Group’s exponential growth in the early 2000s was largely due to a passion for and expertise in historic renovation—they value history and know that it is important to preserve the past in order to learn and grow into the future.

SUMMARY:Japan America Community Night with FC Cincinnati
DESCRIPTION:Let’s show our support for FC Cincinnati and their powerful Japanese striker\, Yuya Kubo\, currently the only Japanese (and our only known-Asian) MLS player in the United States. \nTake advantage of discounted tickets for this event\, courtesy FC Cincinnati\, in one of several sections of TQL Stadium reserved for JASGC members\, friends\, and anyone who wishes to purchase tickets via this link. \nUse code JACN22 for the discount.  \n(This discount is available through May 9 only. For tickets after that date\, please contact Brandon Jones at FC Cincinnati.) \nWe are pleased to be able to offer this event in May\, during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. According to Wikipedia\, the US Congress chose the month of May for two reasons: On May 7\, 1843\, the first Japanese immigrant arrived in the United States. And more than two decades later\, on May 10\, 1869\, the “Golden Spike” was driven into the First Transcontinental Railroad\, which made heavy use of Chinese labor. Since its inception\, awareness of AAPI Heritage Month has grown considerably\, with more events taking place in Greater Cincinnati this year than ever before.
