SUMMARY:Creating Well-Informed\, Responsible\, and Curious Global Citizens
DESCRIPTION:Teacher Professional Development Workshop\n\nHow can we ignite students’ curiosity about the world around them and outside their immediate environment? In this session\, we will discuss how to address global issues and become responsible global citizens while working collaboratively across diverse classrooms. Educators and other professionals working with a culturally aware mindset will share their insights on what components are necessary for a successful collaboration leveraging social and cultural differences and how teachers can implement these strategies in their school or classroom. \nThis session is open for middle and high school teachers of all subject areas and teachers have the opportunity to earn CEU/contact hour credit for participating in this session. \nLearning Outcomes \nTeachers will be able to \n\nIdentify how cultural awareness and responsibility addresses the “Investigate the World” domain of the Asia Society Global Competence matrix and P21’s Social and Cross-Cultural Skills\nExplain how cultural awareness can lead to an enhanced understanding of academic content.\nIdentify resources they can use to develop and implement a collaborative project in their classrooms.\nDiscuss best practices for implementing cultural awareness initiatives in an educational setting and making experiences meaningful and relevant to students.\n\nSpeakers \nMr. Joshua Amstutz\, Math Department Head & Teacher Coordinator of the Academy of Global Studies at Winton Woods High School \nMr. Andrew Lock\, Social Studies Department Head and Teacher within the Academy of Global Studies\, American Studies at Winton Woods High School
