Biography

Dr. Johnson’s research interests include Lincoln and the Civil War, as well as Modern Europe. He has published several works on the subject of Abraham Lincoln, the most recent of which was Writing the Gettysburg Address in September of 2013. Dr. Johnson plans to extend his research into the last year of the Civil War by exploring the continuing development of Lincoln’s policies and writings in the context of early Reconstruction.

I plan to follow up and exchange ideas, plans, and to see how this experience impacted their lives and their communities. This was a special moment as we got to know the visitor's life story, their struggles and their successes as they look to better serve their communities back in their country.”
